Iran and Saudi Arabia join BRICS bloc | DW Business
Iran and Saudi Arabia are among five new members of the BRICS organization of emerging economies. Egypt, Ethiopia and the UAE also joined the bloc on January 1st. BRICS is dominated by China, but also includes members Brazil, South Africa, India and Russia. How will these new joiners change the organization? How will they help it meet its stated aim of creating a counterweight to the West? Guntram Wolff from the German Council on Foreign Relations provides his insights.
